William Blake: The Land of Dreams

Awake, awake, my little boy!
Thou wast thy mother's only joy;
Why dost thou weep in thy gentle sleep?
Awake! thy father does thee keep.

"O, what land is the land is the Land of Dreams?
What are its mountains, and what are its streams?
O father! I saw my mother there,
Among the lillies by the water fair.

"Away the lambs, cloth'd in white,
She walk'd with her Thomas in sweet delight.
I wept for joy, like a dove I mourn;
O! when shall I again return?"

Dear child, I also by pleasant streams
Have wander'd all night in the Land of Dreams;
But tho' calm and warm the waters wide,
I could not get to the other side.

"Father, O father! what do we here
In this land of unbelief and fear?
The Land of Dreams is better far
Above the light of the morning star."

I hope anyone passing through will enjoy this delightful poem by "The Master". I have had a bout of insomnia again and originally thought I was going to be too tired to post anything. However, as this incredible evening has progressed-I wanted to share something by Blake, who was obviously-to me anyway, in contact with a greater and more beautiful reality than many, maybe most of us can ever experience. I will talk more about my 'revelations' today once the Hadrian/Antinous series is finished. The final post for Iris/Lucia is almost ready and I hope to post it tomorrow if nothing prevents me. I hope the last questions from the Iris/Lucia series are ones to be discussed and hopefully commented on in the future. The thought I will leave you from me tonight is that we are not living in the reality or the history that we think we are. Peace and be well-Sweet Dreams also!

Thank you wise for your very thought-provoking and personal post today! I was doing the same thing as last night, when I saw your post-listening to music and trying to get sleepy! At least I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow-I think I will be ok-its only 11pm here-I had just hoped for tomorrow to be a productive day to get more H/A work done-not posted-but at least some thoughts put to paper-so much going through my head-as you can tell(wink)so glad you enjoyed the poem-I had been familiar with some modern poetry and some of the old American greats-had heard of Blake-but really did not understand just how beautiful and majestic his prose, paintings and thoughts were, until a person at the Rigorous Intuition site introduced me-and a lot of others I assume-to them properly. Peace and be well!
