Anne Sexton: The Civil War

I am torn in two
but I will conquer myself.
I will dig up the pride
I will take scissors
and cut out the beggar.
I will take a crowbar
and pry out the broken
pieces of God in me.
Just like a jigsaw puzzle.
I will put him together again
with the patience of a chess player.
How many pieces?
It feels like thousands,
God dressed up like a whore
in a slime of green algae.
God dressed up like an old man
staggering out of His shoes.
God dressed up like a child,
all naked,
even without skin,
soft as an avocado when you peel it.
And others, others, others.
But I will conquer them all
and build a whole nation of God
in me-but united,
build a new soul,
dress it with skin
and then put on my shirt
and sing an anthem,
a song of myself.

Hi Devin
I hope you will be feeling better soon. I have just be going with the flow this weekend - although I'm very focused on my new article, am also just pacing myself - synchromystic posts run on their own time schedule, never any use forcing them.
Perhaps you're in need of a good laugh - here's a link to the English comedy Red Dwarf that you might enjoy

I can't wait to see your new post wise! I agree many things have their own time schedules and I can see how in the synchro field rushing a post would probably ruin it-thanks so much for the comedy link-I could defintely use a good laugh! as it is still early here I have decided to try to post H/A-if I have any difficulties I will stop-I don't mean to be seen to be rushing the series-I just can't go on to other things in as much depth as I would like to until I am finished-Best as always and thanks so much for your thoughts and links!
